For the Why?

Ever asked yourself and others this question, “For the why?” šŸ¤”

Why review your goals, especially towards the end of the year? So you can track your progress, identify where you need to improve and what needs to change, as well as acknowledge your achievements.

For the Why?

Why bother? Because you matter! You are enough! You are the difference-maker and you carry the solution to the next person’s problem! You may as well make your very existence matter by valuing the treasure that you are by sharing your Time, Talents and Treasures with the world. Inherent in each and every one of us is immense ability to be and to do beyond our expectations and limitations, on condition that you believe!

Why are you following the people you follow, be it on social media, or life in general? Are they adding value to you? Are they truly inspiring you to do and be more? Maybe it’s time you did an audit of who you’re following and why? The more you value your time, the more you’ll value other people’s time and stop shortchanging yourself in the process. Growth demands this of each and everyone of us to review our progress, interests, passions and pursuits in order to make the relevant changes to spur us on.

I share these insights not to condemn or judge you, but to inspire you to do better for yourself. Not all of us have people encouraging us to be and do our best in life as we work on becoming the best version of ourselves, but I am here for you to encourage, inspire and empower you with practical nuggets you can apply on your journey this side of eternity šŸ™‚. That’s how much you matter to me and many others (I’m just privileged to say it out loud right here šŸ¤—šŸ“£šŸ“£šŸ“£)

Thank you for your time and attention šŸ‘šŸ‘ŒšŸ’Æ I look forward to hearing from you how your experience of asking ‘For the Why?’ has been. Feel free to like, comment and share this blog with others šŸ™‚ Till next timešŸ¤ #balanceispossible

Scatterbrain.., or notšŸ¤”

Ever felt like your mind was scrambled like scrambled eggs, your thoughts seemingly all over the shore but actually all intact in your mind 🤯?

That’s how I’ve been feeling lately and it led me to search within myself why this was so. At times we become overwhelmed by the vicissitudes of life that tower higher than Mount Kilimanjaro and seem insurmountable; key word being ‘seem’. Being human and experiencing life on this side of eternity is quite the adventure full of highs and lows and the in-between.

Many a time we’ve heard the saying, “things aren’t always what they seem”, often used in self defense to avoid character annihilation. Whatever the case may be, it is true that things aren’t always what they seem, for example, a mirage in the middle of the road on a hot summer day may seem to be a puddle of water up ahead, yet when you get to the spot you don’t find any water and realize it was just a mirage.

What mirages have you encountered today, this week/month/year?
How has the realization that it was a mirage impacted on your thoughts, emotions and perception of life?

Back to feeling like a scatterbrain…, a scatterbrain, by definition, is a person who is forgetful, disorganized, or unable to concentrate or think clearly (@Meriam-Webster.com). The last part of this definition: ‘unable to concentrate or think clearly’ is what had me wondering whether I’d become a scatterbrain 🤯. Relax my friend, turns out I’m not a scatterbrain even though it kinda felt like I was for a moment, or maybe I convinced myself that I was onešŸ¤”?

As I write to you dear friend, my state of mind is clearer and not of the scatterbrain kind šŸ˜…, as I managed to take some time out to unscramble my thoughts, emotions and beliefs. It’s amazing what we discover about ourselves when we make the time to explore what’s going on in our souls. At times the discoveries will scare us, but what is exposed is duly dealt with and either discarded, or put in the right place.

Friend, I hope you will make the time to examine your thoughts, emotions and beliefs as you focus on your mental well-being, and remember that #balanceispossible

Thank you for your time and attention šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

Thank you so much for coming on this journey with me of appreciating the letters of the alphabet and the positive impact words can have on our lives. It would really be great if you can share in the comments how this journey has impacted your life so we can all grow, learn from each other and practically work towards being the best versions of ourselvesšŸ˜‰

How Dare You???

I love how words can have a totally different meaning from what you’d have initially imaginedšŸ¤—.

“How dare you?”, today I ask you a simple question: How dare you? How dare you give up on yourself and your dreams? How dare you stop trying, hoping and believing in yourself? How dare you believe the nay-sayers? How dare you believe that critical voice in your head discouraging you from even trying to take the next step forward towards a better you? How dare you allow unhelpful beliefs to limit you and stop you dead in your tracks?

How dare you? How dare you? I’m on a roll today hun and am also in your corner rooting for you to keep going! Get up! Stand up! Stand up for your rights! The right to live, the right to dream, the right to try, the right to fail and the right to pick yourself up and keep on moving!

I hear you saying, “Nozie how dare you ask me such questions?!!!šŸ™„” Lol, 😁 I dare because I care! I care about you and seeing you make your dreams come true. Imaging your ideal life can be an easy process for many, but making your dreams come true is a process that can be sooo daunting, overwhelming, frustrating (especially when things don’t go your way), but it can also be soooo rewarding, fulfilling and exciting as you begin to see your efforts paying off šŸ¤“

Sooo, dear friend, what will you dare to do? Who will you dare to become? What changes will you dare to immediately make in your life this very moment? What decisions and choices will you dare to make in order to move forward, make your dreams come true and dare to try again?

What unhelpful beliefs will you dare to identify, explore, and replace with beliefs that help you move forward? A belief is a mental position, an opinion of what a person thinks to be best, right, or true. For example, an unhelpful belief could be, ‘Everyone hates me’. Can you prove that everyone hates you? Maybe you need to change your perception of yourself and replace that unhelpful, hindering belief with this more positive belief that says, ‘Anyone I meet likes something about me☺!ļø’ I’ve included the link below to a video on 10 Limiting Beliefs, do check it out and learn more about how you can change limiting/unhelpful beliefs. Enjoy…

Tribute to my Father

Although he’s been gone for over 15years, I still remember and cherish the day dad came back from the United States of America in the summer of 1992 šŸ’ƒšŸ’ƒšŸ’ƒwhat a memorable day it was and the image above speaks volumes as you can see!

My father, the late Reverend Osborne Samuel “Madlez’babayo”, “Dancer Boy” Mpofu was a legendary man, son, father, brother and my mom’s best friend. He was love personified, had a hilarious sense of humour, a hearty laugh and the warmest smile I’ve ever seen and been privileged to inherit😊 He was my greatest life teacher and his words of wisdom still resonate loud and clear in my heart, especially in those moments when the world seems to be against me and all I want is a hug from my dad, and to hear his calming, soothing but firm voice filled with love and wise counsel…, If you know, you know..

I write this as a tribute to my dad, the man who contributed to my being here on earth, the man who taught me a whole lot about life, especially knowing, serving and honouring God with my life all my life! What a man he was! So loving and so kind! So wise, solution-minded, and ever willing to offer wise counsel. One of his favourite sayings was, “Ukufunda kakupheli mntanami” (learning never ends my daughter).

I remember just before I left for boarding school (high school), dad’s advice to me was, “Don’t be afraid to ask questions and to seek clarity. As a Chinese saying goes, ‘You would rather be a fool for 10 seconds than to be a fool for life!’. So don’t hesitate to ask your teachers questions where you don’t understand. The reason we’re sending you to school is so you get a good education and above all understand what you learn, so ask questions and there’s never a wrong question as long as you are seeking clarity!”

So today as we celebrate Father’s Day, I just wanted to remember the legend, Rev. O.S.M. Mpofu, my father who will always be the Best Dad in the world!!! šŸ˜šŸ’šŸ’–šŸ’žšŸ’“ I miss him beyond words and I’m blessed to be an extension of the great man he was while he still walked on this earth.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there. May you continue leaning into the Grace of Fatherhood so you can always be the best dads in the world šŸ™

The Balance Check Series – Ep01

The unexpected happens to us all and can leave us overwhelmed, disoriented, disillusioned, disconnected, the list is endless of how we may feel when we’re out of balance and not totally in control of what’s happening to us or around us. It’s important for us to then learn how we can get to a state of balance. I’m very passionate about balance and will be sharing more with you about #findingbalance. In this month of January 2022, I started sharing posts on 4 words; Alive, Brave, Choice, Dare; and here on The Balance Check I walk you through these words, what they mean to me in relation to Balance, and how we can apply them in our lives as we strive to find and maintain balance in our lives, because #balanceispossiblešŸ˜‰.

ā€œLife is the longest thing you will ever do. Living a balanced life is important for a happy and healthy life full of passion and enjoyment.ā€ – girlhasamind.com

Balance = harmony in every area of your life. Is Balance important to you?

The Balance Check is a monthly review of your state of being balanced. Taking a look at where you are, what you need to change/improve/stop/continue, what new skills you need to apply in order to get to the desired end. Each episode will broaden your awareness and enhance your capacity to learn how to apply life principles that will help you maintain balance in your life. It’s not a quick fix, nor is it an instant results formula, but it’s a means to an end so that you will achieve greater balance in your life. You are the one who determines how far you’ll go in life if and when you effectively apply the information you receive. #balanceispossible

Definitions of the 4 Words for January in relation to balance;-

“ALIVE: being present, attentive and involved, not aloof to your circumstances and surroundings”.

“BRAVE: being courageous by overcoming your fears”.

As long as you’re alive on earth you will face situations where you’ll have to be brave, and you can do this by stepping into the grace of being brave and conquering your fears. Conquering your fears means facing your fears by identifying exactly what it is that you’re afraid of. This can be a humbling experience as you acknowledge weaknesses that you probably thought you’d alreapdy overcome, but don’t despair, there’s hope for us all!! Repeat this after me, ā€œFear is not my friend!!ā€ say it again, and again, and again, and begin to walk in that truth.

ā€œCHOICE: I always have a choice!ā€

@thegoodvibe

We all have to, and actually do make choices every waking moment of our lives, whether we acknowledge it or not. What are we considering as we make our choices? It’s important to be aware of what drives our choices like beliefs, family expectations and priorities, societal expectations and priorities, sometimes fear can drive our choices. Awareness is key in order to come up with an effective solution.

ā€œDARE: to be courageous enough to tryā€.

Even when faced with the unfamiliar, be courageous enough to try, to learn something new, try embracing a new habit.

So, what do these words mean to you: Alive, Brave, Choice, Dare? Do share in the comments below.

#grateful

#grateful

What a year 2021 has been and I’m so #grateful to be alive and #survivedcovidtwice! I have so much more to be thankful for like the gift of life, the gift of family, the blessing of friendship, a sound mind and a healthy body, the chaotic nature of change that leads to transformation. Indeed #balanceispossible, although not always easy to attain, it is a worthwhile feat.

So, what are you grateful for as 2021 comes to an end? What lessons did you learn from both other people’s and your experiences? Who/what impacted you the most? What scared you? What drove or led you to make positive changes in your life?

I learnt that if you do nothing to nothing, nothing happens! If I don’t look for or work towards the solution, nothing will change. If all I focus on are the problems/challenges I face, my circumstances won’t change. My responsibility is to be actively involved by taking the appropriate actions/steps leading to the solutions I desire. At times this may mean asking for and accepting help from others šŸ˜‰

Thank you for your time and for connecting with me through my blogšŸ’– I am so grateful for you and I appreciate you big time! May it be well with you. May your children rise up and call you blessed. May your heart’s desires be fulfilled as you open up yourself to new opportunities and deliberately choose to shift your focus from negativity to positivity. May you embrace the energy to make your dreams come true. May your light shine brighter and brighter as you embrace your greatness and walk in your destiny. May you be blessed beyond measure so you can also be a blessing to othersšŸ’–šŸ’–

May you choose to be grateful every day of your life!!

Here’s to another year of discovery, transformation, inspiration, challenges and opportunities. Happy 2022šŸŽ‰šŸŽŠšŸŽ‰šŸŽŠšŸ’ƒšŸ’ƒšŸ’ƒšŸ’ƒšŸ’ƒ hope to see you on the other side šŸ˜ and remember #balanceispossiblešŸ˜‰

Dark Lipstick

Life & Dark Lipstick

Sometimes people want to confine us to the image they have of us, but that’s neither fair nor practical especially when that image is not in sync with your self-image. For example, someone may tell you that the lipstick you’re wearing is too dark and doesn’t suit you, or is not suitable for your complexion! Like seriously???? Where do they get off telling you what lip colour to put on?

As a woman, while its important to know which colours suit your complexion, there’s no harm in trying out new things that may actually suit you more than what someone else prescribed as ideal.

Beyond lip colour, I wanted to encourage you to be confident in yourself, go after what you feel is right for you and own it! Be comfortable in your own skin by owning your choices and the decisions you make as you exercise your God-given right of choice.

We all make our choices, including choosing not to choose – that’s also a choice hey! Remember that it may not always be possible to balance your right to make choices with the expectations or opinions of others, especially those that are close to you. However, that should not hinder you from making the choices you need to make.

Although variety is the spice of life, you still must make a choice and decide what works best for youšŸ¤—

Striking a balance in any given situation may be challenging and may not always be immediately possible, but it surely is possible and may require patience. At times that may mean agreeing to disagree, shifting your focus or perception, accepting, or rather, acknowledging the other person’s point of view. Bottom line is #balanceispossiblešŸ˜‰

So, how do you #findbalance in the various situations life throws your way? Is it always possible to strike that balance? Do share your thoughts in the Comments section below, and thank you for taking the time to read through.

I’m Not an Alien!

That moment when you feel like shouting out, ā€œI’m not an alien! I’m only human.ā€ Exasperating isn’t it when you feel you must remind people that you’re not an alien? I remember one time when I almost scrum those words out loud, but being the lady that I am, I chose not to although deep down on the inside of me a different state of being was taking place.

After having made a mistake, or several mistakes, it occurred to me that often times people regard me very highly and wouldn’t expect me to make an error of judgement or forget a tiny detail, maybe because they’ve forgotten that I’m not an alien, I’m only human like they are! As unlikely as it may seem, I do make mistakes or forget and overlook things, although not deliberately. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying this to excuse tardiness but to remind you that I’m not an alien, I’m only human! 🤭kkkk

How do you handle frustrating scenarios?

How do you remain composed when everything in you is kicking and screaming ā€˜injustice’?

Do you really need to remind people that you’re human? At times you do hey especially when an injustice has been dished generously in your plate and you’re expected to just take it! Be it in a family discourse, a discussion at work, while in a shop, or anywhere else, if you feel like you’re being treated unfairly do speak up and try to be polite and as composed as possible so your emotions don’t get the better of you.

At times I wish I was an alien from outta space, seemingly clueless about the going-ons on earth but exuding superior knowledge, power and understanding of life. Go ahead and laugh, it’s hilarious isn’t it? Well, at least we’ve laughed together about this!!

Anyways, my encouragement to you dear friend is be kindest to you coz you’ll make mistakes, an error of judgement here, or a costly assumption there, either way you don’t know it all but make every effort to know as much as you can in any given situation. Evaluate those frustrating situations and ask yourself, ā€˜How else can I do or consider this?’, and repeatedly ask ā€˜Why?’ until you get to the root cause. It’s a process indeed, but a worthwhile one. Try it out and let me know how it goes. Until next time; be kinder to you and to other fellow non-alien beings and remember, #balanceispossible!!! Totally Worth It!

I rushed into his office and there he was sitting with his team having a brainstorming session for their upcoming Community Outreach. Everyone turned to look at me clutching my laptop and notebook and I froze! I didn’t say a word out loud as I thought to myself, ā€œI can’t do this to him!ā€ I stumbled out of his office onto the pavement and blindly walked away as quickly as my feet could carry me.

While deep in thought, I felt a warm hand on my lower back and his gentle voice whispered in my ear, ā€œPenny for your thoughts?ā€ froze, smiled, heart beating fast; didn’t expect him to follow me like this; gentle kind eyes melted the icy feeling on the inside and I stopped, breathing stabilized then I mumbled a lame joke. He held onto my lower back…skin tingling, butterflies in my stomach; maximum scintillation.. ā€œI’ll walk you to your car. Where are you off to? Actually, I’ll go there with you!ā€ that was final!… and then I woke up to the sound of birds chirping away, signalling the start of a brand new day. At times reality sucks!

What triggered such vivid imagery in this brilliant mind of mine? Well, I don’t know hey, but all I know is that I woke up with a smile on my face thinking to myself, ā€œI’m lovable and not only did I get his attention, but he spent the whole afternoon with me, despite his super busy schedule, especially at this time of the year! Although it was a dream, it felt so real!” Well, well, sometimes we doubt our worth as life’s overwhelming situations present themselves, however, how refreshing it is when our minds remind us of our worth. Hope that puts a smile on your face too, knowing you’re worthy of all the love, affection, tenderness and love, especially from yourself.

More often than not, we look externally for validation from our parents, family, church, work colleagues and associates, at times even from strangers. That human need for acknowledgement, or an insatiable hunger for some, is so real and is a part of who we are as humans. What really drives one to crave attention? Could it be the need for acceptance? Whatever the reason, remember acceptance is key to sustainable relationships with others.

Accept yourself

Accept your past

Accept your mistakes, regrets add no value to your current life

Accept others for who they are, everyone wants to be recognized for who they are

Accept that you have limited control in life

Accept you have limited time

Accept that you will fail, failure is the first step to success. The ultimate goal is to become the best version of yourself

Accept that you control your future, how you respond to situations is your choice

Accept change: everything is constantly changing. As humans we like the norm. Let go of your hold on permanence.

Accept your need for social approval: we all desire to gain approval and social acceptance from peers and/or communities.

Accept that there will be suffering in life: pain is inevitable, but suffering us optional

Accept things as they are for what they are: resist the urge to want to control everything. It takes humility and openness to accept things

(Acceptance notes above are an excerpt from the video ā€˜12 Things You Must Accept to Live A Good Life’ by Naimat Ahmed: linktr.ee/naimatahmed)

I hope you find value in the reminders above and accept that you’re an awesome, creative, progressive, powerful, valuable human being and that you’re well equipped to face life head-on and remember #balanceispossible!
